Just south of Queenstown, South Island, New Zeland from Highway 6. The pine trees are on my side of Lake Wakatipu while the mountains are on the other (west) side. What looks like a cloud between the two is mist coming up off of Lake Wakatipu. These are the Bayonet Peaks. They say -- and it is true -- that there is a beautiful scenic around every turn in New Zealand.

Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman as seen across Lake Matheson. A drive from Weheka, followed by a trek through the woods (with flash lights) put us at Matheson Lake in time to see the early sun light the mountains. That is Tasman on the left and Cook on the right. Clear days are unusual -- we were lucky.
