Skeeter's Travel Photography -- Worldwide Images of Peoples and Cultures

Your Bio

That's me in the photo. You might have thought that "Skeeter" was the name of a young photographer. Truth be known, I've had that nickname for over 70 years but started using it professionally only when I discovered that "John Martin Photography" was already taken by a fine young portrait photographer in NYC.

My interest in photography started when I was a young man but it was only after retiring (hospital engineer) that I got serious about making great photographs. I've studied under Jim Loring, Jeff Gulle, and Ginger Moseley -- people half my age who have the photography smarts of people twice my age. The fact that I was the oldest student (ever) in photography school didn't bother them.

I settled on travel photography because The Bride and I travel. We've been to twenty countries. And these were not "passing through" visits -- we usually spent a month doing independent travel.

You'll notice that a tag-a-long gallery sometimes follows a country gallery. For example following CHINA there is a gallery entitled CHINA FACES. That's because the real feeling of a place is shown most clearly through images of the people who live in that place. It helps that we take the time and make the effort to connect with the people we meet.

I welcome your comments. Please go to the "GUEST BOOK/COMMENTS" page (see button above) and let me know what you think. Also...you can email me directly at jmartin@hemc.net.

If you like a photo, consider buying it for personal use or for stock. After all, travel isn't cheap and there are a few places we haven't been yet.

One more thing: If you like photography and haven't yet discovered Google+, you are in for a treat. Click here to see my photography on Google+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/113511253286683792811/posts
